Listening to : the Bird of music, Japanese edition of Au Revoir Simone‘s latest album. Those girls are like fairies who learned how to use keyboards. And I usually hate keyboards. They’re touring in Europe now, could you please check it.
Smelling : banana-walnut pancakes. Failed miserably. Meh. My 100 yen pan works fine for stir fries but it’s just too sticky to make proper pancakes.
Enjoying : the warmth of my body curled up under the blanket.

Craving : sundried tomatoes, marinated in olive oil with herbs. And hummus! Seriously! Why doesn’t my local suupaa sell chickpeas??
Procrastinating : cleaning my bathroom. Bath bombs are fun except when you have to clean.
Looking forward to : seeing more of the people I love. Alone time is nice, one week-end sick in bed is more than enough. And that also means I’m waiting for some e-mails here!
Giving up : cramming all those kanjis. JLPT is in a week, advienne que pourra.

…for casually making you listen to a song that you had forgotten, a song you listened to a lot before you turned 9. And with the music, buried memories suddenly rush back into your head – not big memories, just emotions, small, insignificant things – merely anecdotes. But they come back so powerfully. **censorship**
The chill of the winter in our big house. Weeks of excruciating loneliness. Coming back from walks in the forest on Sunday evenings, taking a bath and sitting in my pajamas on the living room floor, making mixed tapes. Refusing to think about the inevitable Monday morning. Reading my quota of 5 library books a week, wishing I could borrow more.
You wish you could tell 8-year-old you that things do get better.
And you also gotta love karaoke nights, and your training years as a soprano, that now allow you to show off your vocal range.
(C’est vrai ça, quand se pose la question qu’est ce tu préfères chez toi, au lieu de répondre mes yeux ou mes seins comme toutes les filles du monde, ca en jette de pouvoir être fière de sa tessiture!)
