About

Hello!

I have been writing this blog under the name aelle (like everything else I’ve written on the internet) since my first trip abroad and alone – California, 2005 – at a time when I was desperate to carry a piece of home with me.

I am a young French woman who loves languages, travels, vegan cooking, maths and drawing. I try to use some of these skills to serve the others, and sometimes practice all of them at once.

In 2005, I was in California.
In 2006, I got a first taste of Japan before spending the winter in Malaysia. These is nothing like spending the winter in the tropics!
In 2007, I participated in Vulcanus in Japan (many of you find this blog by googling these words!), a program of the European Union that enabled me to live and work in Japan for a year and meet my Dutch love.
All of these were paid, done at the same time as my college education, an atypical double major.
I am currently preparing for my departure to Korea (yes, yes, SOUTH Korea). Anyong!

My readers live in Chicoutimi, Tokyo, Chicago, Singapore, Toronto, Tourcoing ; they are friends who emigrated or live next door, family, online friends, or were washed on my shore by very random google searches. Most are francophones but I have been making an effort -and will keep doing so- for the rest of you. Don’t hesitate to comment and suscribe to my RSS feed!

I write bilingually as often as I can, so don’t hesitate to click on the “continue” link when there is one at the bottom of the post for the English version!
